A Pennsylvania man shed some light on the potential health impacts that comes with oil and gas drilling and gas industry during a presentation Saturday town hall meeting in North Lima.
Randy Moyer was a truck driver on truck driver for the industry and said his exposure from fracking fluid made a major impact on his health. He said he had rashes on two-thirds of his body from radiation exposure and that the pain was intense.
Moyer said he wants people to know the industry tells people one story and it’s not always the real one. He adds you don’t need to be exposed to the fluid for an extended period of time. In his case it was just four months.
“When you get around this, it doesn't take like high levels of it, you get very low levels of it and boom, you've got it, you’re sick,” said Moyer.
A retired nurse also spoke about health impacts of the oil and gas industry. Another topic of discussion at the meeting was the cryogenic plant under construction in Springfield Township.
